I exchanged some emails with Gateway customer service when I was looking at one of their computers, and their outlook towards Linux was basically “We don’t care”. I’m not worried if it will take some work to get it up and running, I just don’t want to buy into a laptop that will never be wireless. I’m running a Gateway mx 1 my laptop sleeps and wakes up but the screen is blank 2 internal sound card doesn’t work, I don’t have sound: So, after 3 minutes of work, it was working fine. Anywho, i’ve rolled back to XP and can’t get the sound drivers to install no matter what i do.

Ideal linux-friendly vendors are Lenovo, System76 of courseDell, and I believe the fujitsu computers are linux-friendly as well. It just agteway on how easy the initial setup will be.
